Fire protection system top priority (United Kingdom)
We were approached to provide a fire protection solution for a new biomass feedstock barn in the UK as quickly as possible, as operations could not begin until a fire protection system was in place.

Fire protection top priority
Our client was facing many different challenges with the installation of a brand new biomass system on-site, and had several concerns around sizes, specifications and safety.
Top priority was a fire protection system, as this was required before any operations could commence.
Our Approach
After hearing about the client’s time constraints and their concerns over sizes, we set about providing a hydraulic modelling assessment, as we knew this would help size the delivery pipework and ensure that all the correct pumps were specified for the required applications.
We then designed, manufactured and commissioned a full fire protection system. It incorporated remote controlled elevated monitors to provide a fire water attack to any location in the barn and a cooling water curtain system for the barn’s partition wall.
The monitors could be operated from a safe location in the central control room and directed with the help of CCTV.

Start up operations as planned
Despite the strict requirements and the short time scales, we were able to install all systems on schedule and to the client’s great satisfaction. Everything was compliant and effective, and the plant could start up its operations as planned, to the delight of everyone.
